Garbage and Trash Pick-up Service Rules and Regulations

 

Residential Garbage - Defined as - All debris accumulated within the household that should be disposed of, especially perishable food items and their byproducts.
You will be furnished a 96-gallon rollout garbage container to use while you are a resident of Ozark. Upon departure from your residence, please do not remove the garbage container, as it is the property of the City of Ozark.  This container is authorized for disposal of residential garbage only.  If you need an additional 96-gallon container, you may purchase one for $85 and it will be delivered to you.  This price is effective as of August 1, 2008.

Your garbage will be picked up once each week.

 
Please place your container out next to the street by 7:00 a.m. on the day of your pick-up, and return it to the side or rear of your home by 7:00 p.m. the same day.
 
Residential Trash Pick-up - Defined as - Things that are accumulated outside of the household such as tree limbs, shrubbery and grass trimmings, leaves, pine straw, large cardboard boxes (broken down), old play toys, old furniture, and general debris from the yard.
 
Trash will be picked up at your residence approximately once each week.

Trash should be placed near the street, not in the street or the gutter, but on the edge of your property. Trash placed in the street can pose a traffic hazard and also clog storm drains during heavy rains which could cause flooding. 
 
Residents may put small electronics in their green garbage can. Metal should be separated from the rest of the trash to be picked up for recycling. Grass clippings and leaves should be placed in a plastic bag and sealed tightly to prevent spilling. City crews will no longer be able to pick up any construction debris to include the following:  shingles, drywall, plaster, lumber, concrete, roofing materials, brick, carpeting, pads, commodes, lavatories, windows, doors, fencing, insulation, siding, or paint. 

Dirt, tree stumps, and tree trunks greater than ten (10) inches in diameter and five feet long will not be removed by the Public Works Department.
 
Citizens who employ professional tree trimmers, tree removers or pruners, must arrange for removal and disposal of such debris. The City will not pick up debris generated by tree trimmers, tree removers, tree pruners and contract labor or pulpwooders.

Businesses which do not subscribe to City garbage service are not eligible for regular trash pickup.    
 
No extra charge will be made for residential trash pickup unless there is more than one half trailer load (10 cubic yards), in which case a fee of $65.00 per half load will be billed to the owner of the property. 
 
Individuals cleaning out entire houses must contact the Public Works Department prior to doing the actual work to receive instructions.
Failure to comply could result in the assessment of a fine of up to $500.00 for criminal littering.
